Summer gets pretty hot in Oklahoma, which can cause different kinds of damage to your roof. Here are some of the common residential roofing problems you can run into during the summer season.

Summer Residential Roofing Problems

Sun Damage

The summer heat tends to damage your roof. Constant exposure to the hot sun can cause your roof deck to fade or deteriorate. In addition, the adhesive holding your shingles up can melt. Shingles also age faster in the hot summer weather.

Humidity Damage

Humidity condensation can cause excessive moisture leading your roof to weaken and cause leaks over time. Some companies use waterproof materials to prevent this from happening.

Water Damage

The rain in the summertime can cause damage to buildup on your roof. So it’s best to have it inspected every once in a while to make sure the damage isn’t getting too bad.

Storm Damage

Storms come with lots of wind, rain, and sometimes hail. High winds cause debris to fly around, tree branches to break off, and hail damage. These kinds of things can do a lot of damage to your roof.

Moss Damage

The moisture from rainstorms can cause moss to build up on your roof. This moss causes moisture to build up and cause damage, such as your roofing materials eroding.

Poor Ventilation

You need to get your roof inspected to make sure there’s proper ventilation. Humidity causes moisture to build up if there is poor ventilation.

Insects and Rodents

Summer means bugs and other creatures come around more often. Without getting your roof inspected, all kinds of bugs or animals could take up homes in your roof or attic.
