Hiring a general contractor doesn’t have to be difficult if you have the correct information to guide you through it. That’s why Bailey’s Roofing and Construction in Sulphur, Oklahoma, wants to give you a few tips on what to look for in a general contractor.

License

When looking for contractors, the first thing you should check for is their licenses. Do they have a license? Is their license up to date? Your contractor must have a current license to perform work for you.

Insurance

Make sure the contractors you’re inquiring about offer insurance. This will protect you as a homeowner from any responsibility for on-site injuries during project times.

Experience

You must evaluate the experience of a contractor before you hire them because you want them to do quality work. Ways to assess their expertise include asking them how many projects they do per month, asking for references, and inquiring about how long they’ve been in business.

References

If you do ask for references, follow up with them! You’ll want to know what kind of work the contractor has provided others. Were they satisfied? Was the contractor easy to work with? Were their rates reasonable? Overall, you want to make sure the contractor you’re looking to hire has a positive reputation in the industry.

Equipped Staff and Crew

You’re not only hiring a contractor; you’re hiring the staff and crew that come with it. Ask them about their training, how they’ve prepared for the jobs they’re being hired for. How well will they communicate with the contractor and with you? Feeling good about the crew you hire is just as important as the contractor.

If you’re looking for a qualified contractor to get some projects done for you, call Bailey’s Roofing and Construction in Ada, Ardmore, and Sulphur, Oklahoma, today! We’d be happy to work with you to make sure you feel like you’re hiring the right people for the job. Also, don’t forget to follow us on Facebook for more information.
